Sharks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Monday, February 20, 2012
Five games into a season-high nine-game trip, the road might actually have gotten a little longer rather than shorter for the Sharks on Sunday. And it really has very little to do with a third straight loss, this one by a 3-2 count in Detroit, where the Red Wings have now won a league-record 23 in a row. The road and task got longer and tougher at the same time because San Jose continues to suffer injuries to key performers. Already without second-line sniper Martin Havlat and their most physical defenseman in Douglas Murray, the Sharks saw forward Joe Pavelski and defenseman Marc Edouard Vlasic get dinged up on Sunday as well. The injuries occurred within a couple minutes of each other before the midway portion of the third period.
